1. What is People Religion?
People Religion is the spiritual, moral and ethical faith practiced by individuals and communities for inner growth, discipline, and divine connection.
It is guided by sacred texts such as:
• The Bhagavad Gita
• The Ramayana
• The Bible
• The Quran
• The Guru Granth Sahib
These holy books teach:
• Compassion
• Justice
• Forgiveness
• Self-discipline
• Equality of human beings
• Moral restraint
• Service to humanity
People Religion is personal.
It transforms character, not constitutions.
It shapes conscience, not campaigns.
It is about prayer, humility, charity, righteousness, and peaceful coexistence.

2. What is Political Religion?
Political Religion is the use of religious identity, symbols, or sentiments for political power, control, or mass mobilisation.
It occurs when:
• Faith is used for vote banks
• Holy scriptures are selectively quoted for political advantage
• Religion becomes a tool of division
• Spiritual identity is converted into political identity
Political Religion is not about devotion — it is about dominance.
It is not about scripture — it is about strategy.

4. Constitutional Perspective
Under the Constitution of India:
• Every citizen has the Freedom of Religion (Article 25)
• India follows a secular framework — meaning the State has no religion
When religion remains personal, constitutional harmony thrives.
When religion becomes political, social friction increases.

5. Holy Books vs Political Use
The Bhagavad Gita teaches duty with detachment.
The Bible teaches love thy neighbour.
The Quran speaks of justice and mercy.
The Guru Granth Sahib preaches equality.
The Ramayana upholds righteousness (Dharma).
None of these scriptures advocate hatred, violence, or political exploitation.

6. Final Definition by Dr. Anthony Raju
People Religion is a path to God.
Political Religion is a path to power.
One purifies the heart.
The other mobilises the crowd.
For a peaceful democracy and strong constitutional morality, religion must remain a matter of conscience — not a tool of conflict.
