‘False POCSO Allegations Must Be Dealt With Sternly to Protect the Innocent, Says Dr. Anthony Raju
In a highly shocking development, it has come to light that a complaint was filed under the POCSO Act by a wrestler allegedly to settle a personal grudge against former MP Brij Mohan Singh. The case has stirred legal and public outrage, with calls for strict action against the misuse of such a sensitive law.
Dr. Anthony Raju, Advocate, Supreme Court of India, and one of the country’s leading legal experts on POCSO cases, condemned the incident:
> “This is highly shocking. The POCSO Act is a powerful legal tool meant to protect children, not to be misused for settling personal scores. Filing such frivolous complaints not only damages reputations and lives but also dilutes the seriousness of genuine cases. The Hon’ble Court must take strict action to prevent such abuse of process and to safeguard innocent individuals who are being falsely implicated in POCSO matters.”
Dr. Raju, who has represented numerous clients wrongly accused under the POCSO Act, further called for legal reforms and penalties for filing false complaints.
> “There must be accountability. False cases harm real victims by clogging the system and creating mistrust. It is time to introduce stringent deterrents against misuse.”’
